The capital of Senegal is Dakar. This westernmost African city has come to the attention of the general public mainly thanks to the organization of prestigious off-road vehicle and motorcycle races - the Paris-Dakar Rally.

A unique natural phenomenon is the Pink Lake, located 30 km from the metropolis of Dakar. The water surface acquires a deep pink color due to the presence of the alga Dunaliella salina. The 3 km2 lake is close to the Atlantic Ocean, separated only by sand dunes. The high salt content causes a considerable density of water, so you can lie down and relax on it, just like in the Dead Sea. It was on the shores of this lake that the final stage of the legendary Dakar Rally ended regularly.
